The greatest asset of the shop, as it can be seen in the photo, is that it is basically just another room in our home.  With a connecting breeze way, it can be reached without ever getting out into the weather, also there is a big  disadvantage to the close proximity (for those of you who have offices can understand) which is the feeling of never leaving your work.  However, it allows me to be  closer to my family especially with younger children.  During the early years of woodworking, the shops were located at the residence of the craftsman.  This was partly the original intent that we were trying to achieve.

The shop has approximately 1500 square feet of primary use area with another 1200 square feet for auxiliary use.  This is just enough for one kitchen and parameter pieces.
